Great Source for Beautiful and Affordable Fabrics
One of my favorite on-line stores from which to purchase fabric is Quilt Home.   It carries home decorating, cotton, flannel, and laminate weight fabrics at very affordable prices.  Home decor weight fabric is $13.95 per yard and cottons are $8.95 per yard!  All fabrics are designed by talented, North American fabric designers and artists, including the well known Amy Butler.  And they are all absolutely beautiful and inspiring in terms of color and pattern.

I've found myself just browsing the site to become inspired by many of the designs.  Here are a couple of my favorites to share inspiration with you:

Finding Design Inspiration on Flickr
One of my favorite design blogs, Decor8, has started a Flickr Group devoted to beautiful images sent in by readers that intend to inspire others to incorporate new design ideas into their spaces.

You can view the Interior Styling Group on Flickr for free, and no need to register.  Here is one of my favorite images posted:

Affordable Kitchen Cabinets

HGTV ran an episode of Sarah's House over the weekend.  "Sarah" is a Canadian designer who is transforming an old farmhouse, room by room.  She focused on the kitchen in this weekend's episode.

Her kitchen space is very large.  And she had a limited budget with which to remodel.  So, she was on the hunt for affordable kitchen cabinets, and she did a fantastic job of developing a creative solution.

She purchased cabinets from Ikea, which we all know offer affordable cabinets compared to semi-custom or custom options.  But she made them look custom with a few extra design steps.  First, she had the cabinet doors lacquer painted with a custom color that matched the color scheme in her kitchen.  Then, she installed tongue and groove paneling on the end of each bank of cabinets to create a more custom look.  The finished product looked nothing like the standard Ikea options.  But she saved a bundle of money by relying on Ikea to provide the backbone of her cabinet needs and then applied her creativity and sense of color to make them fit her design needs.

You can see the finished kitchen here.

The color scheme of light yellow, grey, and cream is just gorgeous.
